What We Believe

Trinity is part of the United Methodist denomination, which looks to the faith statements of our predecessor bodies as foundational for our doctrine. This is our heritage, and it continues to shape Trinity in every area of our ministry.

Here at Trinity…

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Word of God made flesh, Lord of heaven and earth, within whose life, death, and resurrection lie the power of salvation, the example for our lives, and the hope of eternity.

We believe that the Church is the hope of the world, because the Church is Christ’s body on earth.

We believe our calling is to make disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus, to develop followers of Christ who have experienced God’s grace to share God’s grace, and empower recipients of the Church’s mission who have become responsible for the Church’s mission.

We believe that the Bible, inspired by the Holy Spirit, is our primary and best resource for understanding the heart of God because the work of the Church is grounded in scripture and led by grace.

We believe in the historic confessions of the Christian faith because we stand on the shoulders of the saints who have walked this way before us.

We believe that we can have unity without uniformity, and that agreeing on Jesus supersedes anything we might disagree about. We believe in making all people feel welcome, because God so loves the world, not just some of us.

We believe that faith can only grow in community because learning to love God is bound up in learning how to love our neighbor. And so we also believe that we can’t do this without you.
